30 Bags for 30 Vets
We love it when we get a phone call from people in our community wanting to make a difference in our military community. And MAKE A DIFFERENCE is exactly what Spencer Creech is doing.
Through his Eagle Scout project called “Duffle Bags for Homeless Veterans”, he provided 30 duffle bags full of basic needs supplies. Visiting area churches, businesses, and organizations over the past two months, he conducted a supply drive, complete with fliers and speeches, bringing in 20 boxes full of supplies.
Today, Spencer met with his troop at the Warrior's Family Center to make first aid kits, personal care kits, and “Thank You for Your Service” packets complete with handwritten cards and challenge coins. They combined these kits with reusable water bottles, towels, socks, and stadium ponchos, creating 30 duffel bags that will be handed out in our community through our currently serving Warriors and local veteran support partners.
Addressing homelessness among the ever-increasing veteran population is a top policy priority for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Spencer’s project is meeting the immediate needs of 30 veterans and raising community awareness of the need for continued support of our heroes.
Thank you Spencer for leading this effort extremely well, and thank you to all who helped support him.
If you'd like to get one of these bags and give it out to a homeless veteran in our area, call us at 318-230-3940.
